Palanhar Scheme: The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Rajasthan, has launched the Palanhar Scheme to provide the requirements for the well-being of homeless, uneducated, and neglected orphans. ‘Orphans’ refers to children who have lost their parents. Any child who has lost their parents is considered an orphan. Any child who has lost their parents, been separated from them, or been abandoned is also considered an orphan.
The Government of Rajasthan provides financial assistance to the nearest relatives, foster families, or institutions for the child’s health, education, care, and other needs.

Who is eligible for the Palanhar Scheme?
The following children are eligible to receive benefits under the Palanhar Scheme:
- Orphaned children
- Children whose parents are in prison and sentenced to death or life imprisonment
- Children of abandoned or divorced women
- Up to three children of a widowed mother if the mother does not receive any pension
- Children living alone due to disability
- Children affected by leprosy and AIDS.
What documents are required for the Palanhar Scheme?
The following documents must be submitted along with the application form for the Palanhar Scheme:
- Child’s Aadhaar card
- Parent’s death certificate
- Copy of prison/demise sentence
- Copy of a medical certificate from the ARD center
- Certificate of disability over 40%
- Income certificate of the foster/partner family
- Residence certificate of the adoptive agent
- Certificate of suitability for childcare issued by the head of the guardian/partner family
- Certificate proof of a child studying in school at the age of six.
Amount of grant provided under Palanhar Yojana
Under this programme, every eligible child and orphan will receive 500 rupees per month until they reach the age of five. From the time they enrol in school until they reach the age of eighteen, they will receive 1,000 rupees per month. Additionally, each year, children will receive a separate amount of 2,000 rupees for items like clothes and shoes.
Application Process for Palanhar Scheme
Click on the login button on the official portal. New applicants can register using their Jan-Aadhaar ID, while existing users can log in using their SSOID. Provide all required details and upload the necessary documents. Submit the application to complete the process.
Benefits of the Palanhar Yojana
Sending children aged 2-6 years to Anganwadi centres is mandatory, and children older than six years should be sent to school. Under this project, orphaned children will receive financial assistance of 500 taka per month until they reach the age of five. After school admission, orphaned children will receive 1,000 taka per month until they reach the age of 18. The government will provide an annual allowance of 2,000 taka for expenses such as shoes, clothing, and stationery (excluding the Marriage and Widow Division).
